Ok peeps... picky Southern Cali girl here. I'm in eugene now... I hadn't found crazy amazing taco shop food here. Then I went to Riva's to give it a try!
This is clearly a family business. I love supporting ma and pa businesses! The same woman is here I swear 24/7 and although she is quiet, she's extremely professional and efficient.
Lots of options. What do you like? California Burritos? Carne Asada Fries? Carne Asada Nachos? Crunchy tacos? Enchiladas? Combination Plates? Chicken Taquitos? They have it. Want Pina? Horchata? Tamarindo? They have it.
Listen it's a taco shop. Don't expect table service. Don't expect white linen. Don't expect silverware. But certainly expect some amazing freaking good grinds people! The meat is cooked perfectly. The beans are cooked perfectly. They have the right flavor too without a ton of liquid smoke people!! The guacamole is yummy! They use fresh cheese, not cheese sauce. Fresh produce!
Hot sauce lover? I prefer the Rojo (red) over the Verde (green)... but different strokes for different folks.
I sometimes stop by in the morning for a Taquitos breakfast to go! Don't tell anyone....
Pricing is reasonable !
Basically? Check this place out I want them to stay around.
My faves? Taquitos and Carne Asada fries. .... -

Yikes.
I have been wanting to come here for a while due to word of mouth hype. However, I have been avoiding it because of gut instinct. I gave in and tried it today so here goes:
The service was friendly and super fast. Too fast it would appear.
The decor is pretty bad and the furniture in the dining area is in terrible condition. Food was all over the floor as well. Front of house was pretty rough, though fortunately the food prep area looked very clean.
I ordered the 2 Carne Asada Taco combo that comes with rice and beans for $8.50. Not sure why everyone says this place is inexpensive.
The tacos were pretty bad. Zero flavor, way too much pico, and they have guacamole which is not usually found in a taco. The rice was very plain, less flavorful than any rice you can make from a pouch at a grocery store. The re-fried beans were not only lacking salt, they were being held and served at an unsafe temperature it would seem. By the time I drove home and opened up the to-go container 10 minutes had passed. Despite this the very thinly shredded cheese they put on the beans only wilted, it did not melt. The beans themselves were luke-warm when I tasted them before I threw it all out.
The menu is gigantic and lacks nearly any description of what comes in an item. This makes ordering online or over the phone nearly impossible if you want to add something or leave something out. This is part of the reason I had not came here sooner.
We are blessed with so much amazing Mexican food in this city. I would not be able to recommend this spot. -

Worst burrito I've had. Don't waste you money on this place. I used them on Grubhub because they had "good" reviews but i should have relied on yelp reviews. This place sucks. I ordered a giant chicken burrito and it was so sloppy and did not taste good at all.

I always get the fish tacos here and my wife gets a wet burrito. They are clean, quick, and efficient. The food is fresh and the amount of it that you get for the price is good. The inside and seating are not fancy, but it is clean and I would rather they be able to serve the quality food at that good price. This place is a staple for us. I drive by Taco Bell and wonder why anyone would go in there and pay for that food at that price when there is a place like Riva's in town.

I liked it. I got the enchilada and bean tostada combo. The chicken in the enchilada was really moist and tasty. Everything else was a bit bland. It was also a little bit more expensive than I'd like since the combo didn't include a drink. But I'll come back.
